Powerline signs line charter
French line company Powerline is calling on other manufacturers to follow its lead in signing EFTTA’s official line charter. Powerline, alongside Water Queen and Tortue, is the latest company to pledge its support for the new initiative whose aim is to ensure the end of inaccurate labelling on line packaging.

Major deals for EFTTEX exhibitors
Three EFTTEX exhibitors have entered into major deals just weeks after meeting their new partners at the show. Germany’s Ockert, Plastica Panaro of Italy and American reel company Ardent have all signed deals based on meetings that took place in the hall in Valencia in June – and all are already reaping the rewards.

EFTTA warns against EFTTEX ‘alternatives’
EFTTA CEO Jean-Claude Bel has warned businesses against using the goodwill and power of EFTTEX to set up alternative meeting places in the same city and at the same time as the show. His message follows the news that an international brand invited customers to a hotel in Valencia during EFTTEX 2010 instead of exhibiting at the show.

Leading brands declare support for EFTTA line charter
Pure Fishing has become the first company to sign the new official line charter introduced by EFTTA. And the global manufacturer and EFTTA member now expects other companies to follow its lead in supporting the initiative to ensure inaccurate labelling is outlawed.

EFTTEX visitor numbers up
EFTTA is celebrating after official figures showed that more visitors attended EFTTEX 2010 than last year. EFTTEX welcomed 1,606 visitors to the Feria Valencia in Spain in June, up from the 1,505 visitors that attended the show in Budapest in June 2009.

Are you helping youngsters to fish?
Calling all members keen to introduce children to fishing. This year, EFTTA has set aside 15% of EFTTA profit in order to support youth fishing projects in Europe as part of its annual Youth Grant Scheme. It now wants to hear from youth fishing projects that are supported by member companies. Under the terms of the scheme, projects supported by member companies can apply for match-funding from EFTTA.

EFTTA turns profit on increased revenues
EFTTA has delivered on its promise to turn last year’s loss into a profit. Presenting the Association’s 2009 figures to the Annual General Assembly in Valencia, Board member Richard Sanderson reported a “small profit” of €20,014 – a positive swing of almost €39,000 on 2008.
