The world’s largest fishing tackle supplier is returning to EFTTEX.
In a major boost for Europe’s tackle trade show, Pure Fishing has confirmed that it will be back at the event when it opens its doors in Barcelona in June. The company was a regular at the show until EFTTEX became a victim of COVID and was cancelled for four years.
It is hoped that the major coup could act as a catalyst to persuade other industry big guns, who have pulled out in recent years, to rethink.
Jan Mertens, Commercial Director at Pure Fishing told Angling International: “We are super excited to be back at EFTTEX this year. It is very important to show our commitment to the industry and the sport in general.
“We hope that this encourages other companies – large and small to join. I also hope that bigger brands will follow. EFTTEX will be more attractive with the presence of the likes of Rapala, Shimano and Go Outdoors. It makes it more interesting for everyone.
“EFTTEX needs to grow and have more businesses exhibiting and visiting the show. The industry needs a forum that brings together everyone involved in the trade and EFTTEX is the perfect venue for that.
“I visited the show last year in Brussels and although it was a shame that it was small, I had some good meetings and the vibe was positive. After that it was felt that EFTTEX was something we should do again.”
Mertens added that Pure Fishing is committed to EFTTEX.
“We are making a long-term commitment to the show. It makes no sense exhibiting just once. It would be a lot of money for nothing.
“We have made the first step which is part of a two/three year commitment to the event.”
Mertens revealed that he is excited at the prospect of showing off new launches from Pure Fishing brands that will include PENN, Savage Gear, Berkley, Pro-Logic, Abu Garcia and DAM. “Revealing our new products for the season is important to us. Having a pre-launch in June in front of a larger audience in a good location appeals to us.
“We will have 25 to 30 of our top accounts there as well as an audience of visitors to the show, making it more impactful. Utilising EFTTEX is good business.”
EFTTEX organiser, Janet Doyle, said: “We are incredibly excited to welcome Pure Fishing back to EFTTEX. Both of us are committed to making the show a success. By working together we can bring the excitement back to the show.
“Feedback from exhibitors who attended the show last year highlighted the lack of big industry players at EFTTEX. It is something that we noted. Hopefully, with Pure Fishing back, it will encourage others to follow.”
